Notes from the Coach

Lee is an energetic, positive, and fun head coach with a lot of experience. He has been around the DFW volleyball community for over 30 years both as a player and coach. He stresses volleyball fundamentals as well as encouraging players to play outside their comfort level and think outside the box.

Coach Lee has had much success coaching all levels of volleyball for over 30 years. He is the founder and former director of Texas Heat Volleyball Club (established 1991) and is a USA Volleyball CAP Level II Coach. He has coached two volleyball All-Americans and has qualified numerous teams for USAV Junior Olympic Nationals including 18-1 taking 2nd place in 1997 Lone Star Classic ( Only 2 Div. Open and Club), 18 National winning 2005-2006 Lone Star Classic. 1st place Gold in USA Div. 2014-15 MEQ Qualifier, 2014-15 won 18’s USA Div. Nationals in New Orleans. 2016-17 Qualified for JOVC 18’s, 2017-18, Qualified 18’s Nat’l Div. 17 place finish. There were other trips to nationals as well. Lee has played and coached volleyball for over 40 years.

 

He is most proud to be husband to Sharon O’Berry-Tonga and dad to 4 girls and 2 boys: Kalani, Sunny (Mahe), Kia (O’Berry), Kelsey (Edward), Veni and Westlee. He is known as Pod (short for Padre), Grandpa Lee, and Papa to his grand kids. Evie, Ellie, Trey, Emmie, Tank, Elsie(RIL), Steel, Ilaiasi, ‘Ovaka, Kamila, Kalea, Sofia, Kenna, Javen, Tali, Kenzie and Sitela with 2 more arriving in 2018.
